“ Nothing influences people more than a recommendation from a trusted friend”
Mark Zuckerberg – Facebook CEO
We all know employee referrals are one of the best ways to hire. It is used by Top Tech firms like Google and Microsoft and is called cooptation : having one of your employee recommended somebody he knows for a given job. It is efficient because when one of your employees brings in a referral, he knows this person will integrate well with the company culture. Besides it reduces the time to hire and helps decrease the difficulties recruiters task.
But what if you could combine the power of employee referral with the efficiency of social networks?
This is the promise MyJobCompany makes. This French start-up has been founded in the end of 2011 by Grégory Herbé and present itself as a leader on social recruitment.
How it works
Recruting good candidates is vital for any business. Any job offer generates hundreds of applications And recruiters have the hard task to distinguish the most relevant candidates. This is very time consuming.
MyJobCompany offers to remedy this by using a community of headhunters to research the best talents. The idea is that they will share your offer on social networks. People usually have a social network focused mainly in the same area of expertise that they are. So they can quickly find lots of potential matches for your needs
MyJobCompany functioning can be summarized in 4 simple steps :
1. Sourcing : Community members use their social networks to source potential candidates more efficiently and faster.
2. Matching : MyJobCompany uses their technology to assess the match between a candidate and a solution
3. Interviewing : Each relevant candidate is submitted to a deep interview
4. Selecting : The shortlisted candidates are assessed and validated (or not) by an external expert
Social headhunting : the Uber of recruitment
Everybody knows that the collaborative economy is a business trend growing faster than the speed of light. The most famous example of this is the American giant Uber who offers anyone to become a personal driver. Similarly Crowdfunding is increasingly popular for start-ups or artists wannabe.
MyJobCompany applies the same principle to the recruitment industry with the motto
“ Everyone is a job hunter ”.
The idea is to motivate its community by rewarding them $10 per relevant CV sent and $2,600 if the person is effectively hired.
Could it work
The recruitment industry is transforming itself at a very fast pace. We spoke previously about Social gaming as a recruitment tool and the EZBeez mobile application to recruit in only 3 clicks. My job company is part of this same modern recruitment trend.
We think this will work particularly well in fields like IT and web marketing where workers are proficient with social networks and understand how powerful this tool can be. It will also be beneficial for very specific jobs for which reaching target candidates through traditional recruitment methods is difficult. It will help companies in those fields recruit faster while finding suitable candidates likely to settle with the company in the long run.
And you? What do you think about social recruitment? Will it replace traditional head hunting? Or do you think like us that both can coexist?
Please share your thoughts
