Last week we had the pleasure of sitting down with Berith Findstrup Madsen, one of the directors of Workindenmark, to discuss the Danish employment service and the future of the recruitment sector in Denmark.
How would you describe WorkinDenmark and its current position in Denmark?
Workindenmark is a professional public service available to any company that needs help finding highly skilled staff from abroad.
Our aim is to make it easier for private companies and public organizations to find the staff they need. Workindenmark is a company operating under the Ministry of Employment; our services are free of charge.
Describe the services Workindenmark offers
Workindenmark is a public employment service for highly qualified international candidates looking for a job in Denmark, and Danish companies searching for talented foreign employees. Our three Workindenmark centres are located in Copenhagen, Aarhus and Odense and offer a series of recruitment services to employers and information and guidance to jobseekers living and working in Denmark. In addition, the website provides both job seekers and employers with the information, advice and tools to bring together Danish employers and foreign candidates.
Workindenmark was created by the Danish employment authorities, what was their aim in launching this service?
The vision of Workindenmark is to support the creation of a balanced labour market in Denmark. Our mission is to support Danish companies in finding highly qualified foreign candidates and to help foreign job seekers in finding work and establish a working life in Denmark.
We do this by assisting Danish companies in recruiting highly qualified candidates, aiding highly qualified jobseekers in finding a job in Denmark, providing assistance for approaching the Danish authorities (International Citizen Service) and providing information and guidance about living and working conditions in Denmark.
What are some of the major challenges your service will face in the coming years?
Our major challenges in the coming years will be to compete with other countries in terms of attracting highly skilled professionals to Denmark and to our service. Our website offers information for internationals aspiring to live and work in Denmark, which we feel will help attract potential employers to make the transition to migrate.
What are the specific features of your job search engine that make it different from your competitors and why?
Workindenmark.dk uses a crawling technology to find, expose and promote job postings on Danish websites, which are written in English. No other website in Denmark offers this service, which makes our service unique.
What are the next steps and projects for WorkinDenmark?
We want to focus more on attracting the right applicants to the website and get them to register for the cv-bank, our CV database. The right applicants are the ones that the Danish employers need the most, such as specialists and highly skilled employees.
