It’s official, Glassdoor has arrived in France. It’s a mix between a review site, an aggregator of job offers, a job board and an employer branding advertising solution. In a country where we love to give our opinion, this new website is going to make a lot of noise, both on the job board market and on the company market. Indeed, this new tool has taken the taboo out of discussing one’s salary.

Glassdoor is yet another company from the famous Silicon Valley. Created in 2007 by the founders of Expedia and Zillow, Glassdoor is a real phenomenon across the Atlantic, with more than 25 million members and $ 93 million funds raised since its creation.

The concept

It is a job site which gives jobseekers the possibility to read reviews about the companies, to get information about salaries and about interview reports. In a nutshell, it is the TripAdvisor of the employment market. Glassdoor enables its users to see what is inside a company (what the atmosphere is like, what the salaries are, etc.). The French product manager, P.Moreau, stated, “We put forward the concepts of transparency and company discovery, which are in our slogan Discover the company, Get the job.”

Glassdoor plans to be the #1 website for job hunting in France. The question is: will Glassdoor find its audience in France, while there are already several similar initiatives such as Tchooze, NoteTonEntreprise, Meilleurs-entreprises and LinkFinance?
