Jobboard Finder’s opinion
Summary: Created in 1999, Vagas is a very successful generalist job board based in Brazil. Every month, it attracts about 26.16 million visitors, mostly from Brazil. There is an impressive following on LinkedIn (1 853 537 followers), Facebook (1 834 296) and Twitter (406 100). It’s unfortunate that the team is particularly difficult to contact and the website requests different security information, like a passport number of a Brazilian phone number and, unlike you Europe, you don’t always know what the information will be used for (when you fill out the contact form for example). Even if the site is available in Spanish, Portuguese and English, some words or pages are not fully translated.
Design: The Vagas website has bloc colours (like orange and green) to help recognise different sections (orange for employer pages, for example). The homepage focuses on the search, which means it has a search engine (only keywords) in the middle of the page and other suggestions underneath. In fact, you cannot access the job listing without a keyword or some other filter. A few companies are featured on the homepage, as well as the app and some of the services. Once in the job listing, the filters (city, country, industry, level) appear on the left-hand side. You can see the number of jobs per category, but only categories relating to your keyword are visible. It’s very difficult to have an idea of how many jobs are actually posted on the job board. Logos and publication dates appear in the listing, but there is not a lot of branding for the job offers.
The job board objective: Vagas (which means “vacancies” in Portuguese) offers technological solutions so that companies can find and select the right people.
Recruiter observations: According to the job board, there are more than 12 million CVs in the database. You must contact the team for the prices and to create an account, but it’s complicated. You need a CNPJ (identification number for Brazilian companies) and Brazilian phone number.
Jobseeker observations: Jobseekers must include their CPF number if there are Brazilian or their passport number if they are foreign. You must also fill out your online CV to apply to job offers.
The job offers: There is no information about the number of job offers currently on the website.
Reactivity: To write to the website, you must fill out a number of fields, including your Brazilain cell phone number and your CNPJ.
Special features: The arteVagas (nothing new 2017); the forum; the key figures; the partnerships; the disability friendly jobs; the article recommendations (the number of people who recommend it); the salary index (based on the occupation), including keywords and career trajectory; the job sheets; the tests.
Verdict: Vagas is clearly a popular job board. However, it is also a difficult job board to contact and the information on job offers as well as the job search is limited. That hasn’t stopped any of the locals from using it, but it might make the recruitment process slightly more complicated for international companies.
