Jobboard Finder’s opinion
Summary: Created in 2007, Mejor Empleo is a generalist job board present all over Latin America. Depending on the portal you choose, the number of offers and the traffic will be different, which is actually a good thing because it means you really are seeing the local offers you wish to consider. On social media, there is one page for all the different portals, with 1 612 followers on Twitter and 28 278 on Facebook. There are also so portals for specific countries (but not for all of them). Since most of the activity from the generic page comes from Argentina, we tested that version. However, there are only 82 090 visitors per month for the main portal, whereas the Mexican portals has 158 070 visitors a month.
Design: The homepage is quite straight forward. You have the search engine (keywords and location) next to the image of smiling woman. Just below that, you have different lists: companies with relevant offers, the latest offers, the top provinces and the top searches. Once in the job listing, there are two filters (the publication date and the location). Every job offer indicates the publication date and salary information (when it is provided). The featured offers appear above the others, with just “featured” in red next to it.
The job board objective: Mejor Empleo (which means “better job”) wants Latin Americans to find better jobs!
Recruiter observations: Recruiters can post offers for free. To create an account, you must provide the company turnover, a description, a phone number, an address and the providence.
Jobseeker observations: It’s easy to create an account (with just an e-mail address and a name).
The job offers: Depending on the country portal, the number of offers varies. Honduras has the least (less than 150) and Mexico has the most (more than 4000).
Reactivity: --
Special features: The articles (no publication dates); courses; the key figures on the "free posting" page; free job posting.
Verdict: Mejor Empleo is definitely an interesting choice for recruiters because the traffic is high, and the job posting is free. It’s unfortunate that there aren’t more branding options, but recruiters can combine advertising on Mejor Empleo with advertising on other sites.
