Jobboard Finder’s opinion
Summary: Ian Partington, the CEO and founder of the Simplyjobs job boards, and the group also owns a number of job boards, which don’t have Simply in the name. Travel Job Search is one of them. The layout is quite similar to the others, but this job board wasn’t created by the team, it was acquired later on. It has been around since 1999, but the current layout is far more recent (2014). The recruitment page offers clear key figures and different services. On social media, the site has a small group of followers: 252 on Linkedin, 424 on Twitter and 4 532 on Facebook (nothing new since 2017). Unfortunately, the website is not https:// secure.
Design: The dominant colour is blue and the homepage includes a backdrop image of an island and mountains. The page is mostly made up of different groups of jobs: jobs of the week, the featured employers (some of which are not hiring), and latest jobs. To access the job listing, you can use the groups or the search engine (keywords and the location). From there, you can use the filters (the location, the job category, the salary band, the job types, the company type, the sector and the last updates – with the number of offers per category in brackets) to cull the job offers. Featured jobs appear on the right-hand side and similar jobs appear next to the open job offer with easy-to-use scroll buttons. The information on the website isn’t completely accurate. It can indicate that all the job offers displayed have been updated within the last month and yet, the posting dates are sometimes months, if not a year, old. There are expiry dates (indicated above the offer), which is always reassuring when unsure about how the offers are updated. You can sort the offers by their newness or their expiry dates.
The job board objective: Travel Job Search makes it easier for those looking to work in hotels and travel to find work. Much like the other SimplyJobs job boards, by focusing on one industry, Travel Job Search hopes to target relevant candidates.
Recruiter observations: You can also purchase a package online and just fill out some basic information about yourself and the company. Otherwise, you’ll have to contact the team for a demo.
Jobseeker observations: Jobseekers need an account to apply to job offers.
The job offers: There are 1 605 job offers. Most of them are in the UK, for travel consultant jobs and business travel jobs.
Reactivity: The team answers very quickly.
Special features: The jobs of the week; the blog (nothing new since August); the survey; the courses; the forum.
Verdict: Travel Job Search is a nice-looking website. Unfortunately, the lack of https:// security and the unknown visibility means you might want to use it as a complementary job board and not your main recruitment tool.
