Jobboard Finder’s opinion
Summary: The Engineer Jobs is the job board for the Engineer, a magazine for engineering professionals. It was launched in 1856 and adapted to the advances in technology over time. In addition to the Engineer Jobs job board, there is also the Student Engineer for students and graduates in the field. The visibility is unknown for the job section, but the main website attracts 250 090 visitors a month (only 50% of which actually comes for the UK). On social media, there are 419 followers on Facebook 4 189 followers on Twitter (just a list of job offers), 8 326 on Instagram and 461 on LinkedIn. The different social media is for the job section alone. The Engineer’s publisher is Centaur Media.
Design: As a Madgex job board, the design is very user-friendly. You can access the job board through ‘jobs’ at the top of the page. The search engine (keywords, location and radius) is featured at eye-level, over an image of sparks and a professional working. Below, there are two panels (sectors and job functions) to choose a category and start your job search. The featured companies and recruiters (the site distinguishes the two) really are hiring, which is always good news. Articles and featured jobs can also be accessed directly from the homepage, as well as other services. In the job listing, the filters (location, sector, discipline, function, salary band, contract type, hours, recruiter type) appear on the left-hand side (and include the number of job offers for each category if you are browsing). The salary, logo and publication/expiry date are visible for each offer in the listing. An open job offer has a standard layout, with useful information on the left-hand (which includes expiry dates). There is also a company listing, which displays the logo and number of current job offers. The page layouts are standardised, including a short description sometimes and a list of job offers.
The job board objective: Thanks to years of experience, the Engineer uses its database and outreach to attract the best and brightest recruits.
Recruiter observations: Prices are online, and recruiters can order through the site. To create an account, you must indicate your postcode, country and phone number.
Jobseeker observations: It’s easy to create an account.
The job offers: There are currently 176 job offers online. The most popular sectors are Engineering Consultancy, Manufacturing and Automation.
Reactivity: The team answers very quickly (just like it does for the other Centaur Media job boards).
Special features: The career advice (with different sections, nothing new since 2017); job alerts; testimonials; the app; the key figures.
Verdict: Like most Madgex job boards, The Engineer jobs is a part of a larger group, which offers articles and insight to its users. This means it attracts through great content and then provides job offers. The layout is user-friendly and both recruiters and jobseekers can find relevant services.
