Jobboard Finder’s opinion
Summary: The story behind Teknisk Ukeblad (or “Technical Weekly Magazine”) dates back to the 19th century, to when it was a newspaper. To keep it simple, the online version appeared in 1995 and it has dominated the Norwegian tech media ever since. It attracts 2.29 million visits per month, which keeps it in the top 160 most popular websites in Norway, with the media in engineering and IT fields being the main attraction. They recently purchased other websites like tek.no, technofil.no, discussion.no, insidetelecom.no and gamer.no (thanks to Mediehuset Tek) as well as digi.no and tek.no. TU.no itself belongs to Nito and Tekna. It’s refreshing to see featured companies that are really hiring and here’s why you should consider advertising with them too.
Design: The bright black on yellow logo becomes yellow on black once you enter the job section by clicking on “vacant positions” at the top of the page. On the homepage, you can use the search engine (keywords, location or industry) or click on one of the categories (which each have their own customized image and they indicate the number of available jobs) to access the job listing. The offers appear in order of their relevance, their publication date or deadline and the filters on the side are industry, category and location. Each job offer displays the company logo, the job title, the deadline and the location (sometimes the job title is a sentence). As for the layout of the offer, the job description takes up most of the page with important information and similar jobs on the side. Some job offers can lead directly to an email or a career page to apply.
The job board objective: Teknisk Ukeblad has spent years bringing tech news to its faithful readers, and connecting those same people with the right companies and the right employees.
Recruiter observations: The prices are available on the website (if you click on “advertising and prices” at the bottom of the page) along with branding information. They summarize each category, which is helpful for any recruiter who is not sure where to place a job offer. However, you need to get in touch with the website to create an account.
Jobseeker observations: It is easy to create an account (with an e-mail address or a Facebook account). For many jobs, you are redirected to a career page. The dashboard is rather bare but you can follow companies, which is handy.
The job offers: There are 333 job offers right now. All the jobs are in tech fields, with construction and IT jobs offering the most openings.
Reactivity: --
Special features: job alerts; the media section; the blog (in Norwegian); the “follow” option for companies, industries and places; industry summary.
Verdict: Teknisk Ukeblad is the leading technology magazine in Norway. Their media outreach and the additional websites the group has acquired over the years guaranties visibility. If you need IT, think TU.no.
