Jobboard Finder’s opinion
Summary: Created in 1999, this specialist job board for IT professionals works with a number of other job boards across the UK to help jobseekers and recruiters find each other. The current director is in Anthony Sherick and there is a strong promotion of women within the company (which also runs WomeninTech). On social media, the site is quite popular, with 2 960 followers on Twitter, 3 342 on Facebook and another 2 491 on LinkedIn. As for who is actually visiting the site, 294 650 views are recorded each month, less than 60% of which come from the UK. Clearly, there is a diverse mix of users on TechnoJobs.
Design: Even though the design is slightly outdated, the website is easy to use. The search engine (keywords, a location and the radius) appears at the top of the page and users can add advanced search options (the minimum salary, the publication date, the type of contract and where the keyword appears – in the title or description or just in the title), but there are no filters. You can change the sorting too so that offers appear in order of the salary, the newness or in alphabetical order. Unfortunately, the sorting options don’t actually seem to work (the oldest job offers don’t appear on the last page of the “newness” sorting and the offers aren’t in alphabetical order when sorted that way. On the homepage, TechnoJobs suggests looking through the top IT jobs, the top contract jobs, the top IT skills and the top locations. Some jobs are in the “jobs of the week” category, and some companies are featured (they are really hiring). The companies in the employer listing aren’t necessarily hiring though. Their pages are quite attractive and detailed, including images and videos. The focus is not on the current job offers (sometimes, you need to visit the company website for the offers). All of the companies are represented by a logo in the listing (in alphabetical order), but there aren’t any such logos in the job listing. Jobs are posted for up to 30 days, so we can safely say the offers are updated.
The job board objective: TechnoJobs focuses on the IT field and helps recruiters find the right candidates. In association with its partner websites, it specialises in finding very specific types of candidates.
Recruiter observations: It’s easy to create an account as a recruiter. There is no CV database; instead, a ‘watchdog’ system e-mails recruiters when interesting candidates sign up. The pricing is available through the recruiter account.
Jobseeker observations: To apply to job offers, an account is necessary. Jobseekers must include their current job title, visa status and employment type to create it.
The job offers: At the moment, there are 11 632 job offers.
Reactivity: There is different contact information for recruiters and candidates. The team answers very fast but never actually answered our questions.
Special features: Job alerts; the list of partner websites; the articles (in different sections); the CV watchdogs; the testimonials; the infographic on the TechnoJobs connections and the key figures in the “Advertise” section; the jobs of the week.
Verdict: The senior account manager has very positive recommendations on LinkedIn from customers. The key figures are impressive and the reactivity of the team and attractive company pages make up for the slightly old-fashioned design of the site.
