Jobboard Finder’s opinion
Summary: When you hear the name ‘SkyWalker’, many of us think of the famous trilogy StarWars and the lead character Luke SkyWalker. How could you pass up the opportunity of looking for work on a Greek generalist job board referencing a movie classic? Created in 1999, SkyWalker is a popular job site, attracting 622 080 views a month, most of which come from Greece. That won’t surprise anyone who has used the site, since it has no language options unfortunately. It does have many followers on the other hands: 95 502 on Facebook, 6 690 on Twitter, 14 818 on Linkedin and another 202 on Youtube for about about 100 videos.
Design: The page layout is slightly old-fashioned, and a lot of the information is repetitive (at the top of the page, featured in the middle and in the footer), but at least you’re sure to find what you need. Through the website, you can look up job offers or classifieds. For the classifieds, there are no images but you can see useful information – like the date, the location and the industry – in the listing. For the job offers, there are logos but the branding stops there. Recruiters have the freedom to structure the job offers, but most of them still have clearly defined subsections. On the homepage, you can use the search engine (keywords, the category and the location). You can enter additional filters (more locations and more categories, the training, the publication date, the subject you studied and the languages), which also appear as filters on the side once you’re in the job listing. Some links don’t work, including all of the Network links and the map of the site.
The job board objective: SkyWalker helps jobseekers on their miss to find work, and recruiters on theirs to find candidates.
Recruiter observations: As a recruiter, you need a TVA and tax number to create an account.
Jobseeker observations: It’s easy to create an account. You can include information, such as your Linkedin page, your gender, whether you’re willing to travel for work, etc. You can even add friends to your contact list. Applying to job offers is also very easy.
The job offers: There are 5 162 job offers, most of which are in the category catering, sales or hotel staff. Most are in Greek but there are also some English adverts.
Reactivity: The team answers within a day.
Special features: The Youtube videos; the blog (in Greek); Owiwi (the online adventure game for jobseekers, but all the avatars are male); the compass (with career orientated advice); the salary calculator; the Ison personality tests; the app; Rejoin (with information relating to a variety of fields); SkyWalker Education (with courses, tools and articles); the partner websites; the CV visibility options; the side tabs (including footage of the old SkyWalker website and tutorials); the interactive map; Sentoras; the other SkyWalker websites; the past promotional offers.
Verdict: Some of the links in the footer malfunction and language options would be a real help. That said, the offers, the social media and the blog are all up to date, which is always a good sign. If you want to get your job offers noticed, SkyWalker is a good place to start.
