Jobboard Finder’s opinion
Summary: Founded in 2012 by Jan-Willem Broekhoven and Jordy Stravers, Sire search is a job site specialised in science and healthcare related jobs. The company is present in 5 different locations across Europe and attracts users from all over the world. In fact, 65 280 visits are recorded per month, with 33% coming from the Netherlands, 20% coming from the US, 11% coming from Germany and 7% from Spain. There are many social media links, including Viadeo, Xing and Glassdoor. However, the engagement isn’t necessarily as high as you might think: 17 followers on Facebook (nothing new since 2017) and 8 700 on Twitter (for a long list of job offers). The focus is on the LinkedIn page (where there are 28 912 followers) and YouTube (1 000 followers).
Design: On the homepage, you can start your search right away thanks to the search engine (keywords) or browse some of the featured offers (including premium jobs and new jobs). You can also select a sector or specialisation. In the job listing, the information is clear and the font is large. The filters (keywords, country, sector, specialisation, employment, expertise, education, language, secondary benefits) include the number of offers per category. The job alert pop-ups are annoying but not hard to get rid of. Even if you can’t see the publication date, it is included in the useful information, which you can see after opening the offer. The other useful information, just above related job offers, includes the employment type, the expertise required, the education, the language, the sector and more. The job offers have a standard structure. The company pages include a map, a logo and a description. There is a company listing with the same filters as the job listing.
The job board objective: SIRE Search focuses on a specific niche on a global scale in the hopes of offering recruiters and jobseekers more opportunities.
Recruiter observations: In addition to job posting, SIRE also offers a recruitment service. Recruiters can use Facebook, LinkedIn or an e-mail address to register.
Jobseeker observations: It’s easy to create an account but an address, current job, experience and education are all required.
The job offers: There are currently 3 491 job offers online. Most of the jobs are in pharmaceuticals and there are more than twice as many permanent positions compared to freelance positions.
Reactivity: The team answers very quickly.
Special features: The YouTube videos; the blog (nothing new since last year); the list of partners; the events page (which is empty); the pressroom; the jobseeker tips; job alerts; the number of other applicants; the newsletter.
Verdict: SIRE is a professional job board, which gets down to business. It caters for those who want to publish quickly as well as companies, which want to discuss the recruiting further. It’s easy to navigate and the team is helpful.
