Jobboard Finder’s opinion
Summary: Ian Partington, the CEO and founder of the SimplyJobs job boards, is behind the SimplySalesJobs niche job board in the UK. It was created in 2003 and it focuses on sales jobs (as the name indicates). The recruitment page has a very direct advertisement approach: “No really, we are the best”. You have to admire their directness. On social media, the site has a small group of followers: 120 on Linkedin, 2 067 on Twitter and 1 131 on Facebook. About 54 380 visits are recorded on SimilarWeb every month, most of which are from the UK. Keep reading to learn more about the good and the bad on SimplySalesJobs.
Design: The dominant colour is green and the logo is the name with a tie-shaped 'i'.The homepage is mostly made up of different groups of jobs: featured employers, recommended jobs, last viewed jobs, latest jobs and popular searches. Unfortunately, about half of the featured employers are not hiring right now. To access the job listing, you can use the groups or the search engine (keywords and the location). From there, you can use the filters (the location, the job category, the OTE salary band, the company benefits, the job types, the company type, the business sector and the last updates – with the number of offers per category in brackets) to cull the job offers. Featured jobs appear on the right-hand side and similar jobs appear next to the open job offer with easy-to-use scroll buttons. According to the website, only 15 or so offers haven’t been updated within the last month. However, from the listing, that information appears incorrect. Finally, there are expiry dates (indicated above the offer), which is always reassuring when unsure about how the offers are updated.
The job board objective: SimplySalesJobs hopes to make it simple to find jobs in sales, and sales professionals.
Recruiter observations: The prices are available on the site. According to the website, in the CV database, there are over 370 000 users. To create your job advert, you can try a free demo through the site but you have to contact the team to do so. You can also purchase a package online and just fill out some basic information about yourself and the company.
Jobseeker observations: To apply to job offers, you need an account.
The job offers: There are 4 958 job offers on the website. Most of the job offers are in retail sales, sales manager jobs, professional sales and customer service. Most of them offer between £20K and £50K.
Reactivity: There is a chat window on the recruiter page. The team answers quickly and they are very friendly.
Special features: The Christmas theme (and falling snow); the blog (with three distinct categories); the flexible work survey; clear GDPR info; chat support; the CV advice; the survey on job searching; the very specific filters and subcategories; your recently viewed jobs; job alerts; the partner aggregators; the jobseeker journey (explaining the jobseeker to recruiters).
Verdict: It’s really nice to see so many different filters and subcategories to help users find what they need. The website has its flaws (the “newest jobs” just leads to the job listing, the package page shows up as https://www... In the tab, etc.), but the team answers quickly and the visibility is reasonable for a niche job board.
