Jobboard Finder’s opinion
Summary: Created in 2008, Shine is a generalist job board in India which has proved to be quite successful over the years. Shine works with the Hindustan Times, which is indeed a huge news website, for better visibility and it definitely helps: 8.02 million views are recorded every month by SimilarWeb. There is a huge team of people working on the site so it’s no surprise to learn that the different social media is updated. There are 4 259 followers on LinkedIn, 12 600 on Twitter and 417 153 on Facebook.
Design: To use the search engine (keywords, location, experience), you must fill in the fields and drop down options appear. Once in the job listing, you can refine the search thanks to the filters (salary, location, department, industry, experience, company, interview type, employer type, job type). The offers can be sorted by freshness or relevance. When logged in, you can browse the offers based on your matches (according to the website), your saved jobs or your applied jobs. In the listing, you can see required, publication dates, the location and the skills. You can browse the job offers by department, industry and location (the number of job offers in each subcategory are in brackets) and at the top of the page, jobs by skills, by education, government jobs and part-time jobs are also indexed. You can also see top employees and top consultants. Even if you can view all of the company names, they do not have pages (just the logos and names appear in a grid).
The job board objective: Shine hopes to see everyone with a smile on their face when leaving for work.
Recruiter observations: You can publish for “almost” free, and the prices are on the website. To create an account, either you contact the team or you enter your contact details (like your phone number) to post for “almost” free.
Jobseeker observations: It’s a bit tedious having to fill in an online form and upload a CV. Furthermore, both your phone number and website are compulsory.
The job offers: There are thousands of job offers on the website. Most of them are in IT, manufacturing and recruitment.
Reactivity: The team answers within a day (you must take into consideration the time difference).
Special features: The app; the job of the day; the “Report a Job Posting” form; the “Fraud Alert” section (to help recognize fraudulent adverts); the feedback options; Englishmate; the online courses; the articles (in many subsections including industry news, interview preparation, Shine trends and salary); the views on the articles; the salary checker (which has filters for an accurate estimation of the salary and the website also indicates the best paying companies); the HR articles.
Verdict: Shine is a simple-to-use job board with a lot to offer its jobseekers. It’s a bit of a shame that “exotic dancer” should lead to engineering positions, and it is slightly unlikely that there are 492 jobs relating to “brain surgeon”, but you can still kind relevant offers based on your profile.
