Jobboard Finder’s opinion
Summary: Profession has been around since 2005. Since we last tested the site, there have been many updates making the site look more than professional. The website is available in Hungarian and English (even if that does not include everything). It gets as many as 3.43 million hits a month (ranked the 73rd most visited website in Hungary), despite the fact that some of the links don’t work. In fact, they are the leading job board in Hungary. They have 110 976 followers on Facebook, 1 220 on YouTube and 5 745 on Instagram but Twitter has been abandoned. Furthermore, you have to fill out a whole form if you want to subscribe to the newsletter! And they really push it (with pop-ups). But remember, it’s for your own good: so that you don’t miss out on job offers and new articles that specifically target your line of work.
Design: The homepage is very colourful and organised. The search bar appears at the top of the page (keywords and the location) over an image (which changes depending on the language and also stays put even if you scroll down the page). Otherwise, you can select a suggested category from the different panels (categories, locations, keywords). You can also find featured job offers, info for companies and they even offer tools for jobseekers (salary calculator and career advice). Some blog entries (the labour market news) are visible next to a box of popular keywords and finally, a handful of partner companies appear above the footer. They also have an international service (where you can get help with recruitment in other countries). Once in the job listing, the filters are in the "advanced search" section (the industry, the location, the language skills, the education, the experience, the employment type, the working type - which is misspelt - , benefits, company details). It is possible to view only employer offers (no recruiters) or ones with accurate addresses.
The job board objective: Profession aims to be professional, work with professionals and create professionals.
Recruiter observations: To create a recruiter account, the tax number and bank card number are required. Profession also offers other services (including access to a CV database) but asking for the bankcard details seems a bit premature. If you do advertise with them, you’re free to design the company page as you see fit. Some include information about the company and the benefits, others focus on the different sectors within the company. The same is true for the job offers.
Jobseeker observations: You can sign in with Linkedin, Facebook or an e-mail address. Each job offer is different, which can be confusing when applying.
The job offers: There are about 18 000 job offers are on Profession. The categories with the most job offers are sales, production and manual labour.
Reactivity: The team answers quickly.
Special features: The blog (in Hungarian); the salary calculator; HR conferences; following a company; the language test (which doesn’t exist); The CV builder; the recruitment service; the advert rewriting service; the newsletter/job alerts; the YouTube videos; the list of partner websites.
Verdict: The website has come a long way (correcting some parts, like the FAQ section). Luckily, you can find most of the information you need all the same. Profession is a popular choice for Hungarians making a career move. The visibility is high and additional services are offered. There are features on the site which did not work some years ago and still don't... That's a shame.
