Summary: How could you not want to recruit with a Croatian job board, when the country code TLD is HR? Posao is a nationalist job board, which has been around since 2002. In 2006, the site joined the Oglasnik group, the largest classifieds website in the country. BoljiPosao in Bosnia also belongs to the group, which is why the two sites (BoljiPosao and Posao) have the same layout in different colours. On both sites, the language options don’t work though. Users are encouraged to contact the website with useful feedback to improve the site, which is handy. On social media, Posao has managed to build up a fan base and now has 145 782 followers on Facebook, 2 875 on Twitter, 2 493 on LinkedIn and 737 on Instagram. It should come as no surprise to learn that Posao is the second most visited job board in Croatia (without counting the official governmental website), thanks to the 559 170 views a month.
Design: The information on the website only takes up two thirds of the screen to leave room for cute images around the important content. The search engine (keywords, the activity, the location) is in a box across the top of the page with the social media links. You can drop down different filters: the activity, the county, the city and the function. The rest of the homepage displays a grid of company logos and their job offers. If you click on the logo, you are redirected to a company website. If you click on the offer, it appears with great branding, which really reflects the image of the company. You can save different advanced searches (which include keywords, category, county, level of studies, type of hours or employment, Posao and/or CES jobs, a posting and expiry date) under specific names. The CES is the unemployment office in Croatia.
The job board objective: Posao (which means “work”) makes it easier for Croatian recruiters and jobseekers to find each other.
Recruiter observations: There is a version of the website for recruiters, which allows them to look through CVs instead of job offers. According to the site, there are over 75 000 CVs in the database. It’s easy to create an account, but you are required to provide an OIB (osobni identifikacijski broj), which is a type of social security number.
Jobseeker observations: It’s easy to create an account. For some job offers, you have a form (with a prefilled out message) and for others, you are redirected to a company page.
The job offers: There are 4 113 job offers on the site, and an overwhelming number of them are in production.
Reactivity: You can contact the team on Viber. They answer quite quickly via e-mail.
Special features: The feedback options; the classifieds website (Oglasnik), which also has job offers; Edukacija for online courses; Auti for cars; the blog (with many categories); the news section; the timeline; the salary calculator (which calculates what the employer and the employee must pay to understand net and gross pay. It takes the location into account, but the gross pay must be more than 3 276 Kn, i.e. more than the minimum wage); one YouTube video; the personal data collection options (you can object to companies keeping personal information).
Verdict: Posao is a pleasant job board, with more than enough information on Croatia and the employment market to keep you busy. The offers have good branding and it’s a popular choice for both recruiters and jobseekers.
