Jobboard Finder’s opinion
Summary: Founded I 1996, MeineStadt is German job board with both job offers and classifieds. It was acquired by Axel Springer in 2012. Today, it attracts a staggering 2.74 million visits a month, most of which come from Germany. The group is only present on Twitter and Facebook for 3 611 and 50 636 followers respectively. More than just a job board, MeineStadt offers locals all kinds of services, like housing, car sales, dating services, tourism, events, a company list and more.
Design: From the homepage, you can click on jobs or classifieds. In the classified section, you only have five different categories, which lead to articles and candidate profiles for those five categories. By clicking on a profile, you are redirected to Betreut (or Care). For the job section, the search engine (keywords and location) appears above a grid of grey images, which also correspond to a sector (logos and titles help recognise the different sectors). If you choose to use the interactive map to start your search, you will be redirected to a different map and then a list until the location is specific enough. Then you can see how many hotels, jobs, singles, events, etc. are featured in that area. In the listing, the offers are sorted by relevance, company, newness or job title. There are logos and publication dates. When you open an offer, you see useful information at the top of the page and the rest is completely customisable by the recruiter (but it cannot be translated by Google).
The job board objective: MeineStade (which means my city) offers more than just a job search; the idea being that you start with your city and then look for what you want.
Recruiter observations: It’s easy to create and account and order online.
Jobseeker observations: Since the site picks up adverts from all over the internet, you don’t necessarily need an account to apply to offers.
The job offers: There are 726 049 offers online. Production and construction have the most job offers but the others also have thousands of offers too. This job site is best used for low-end jobs.
Reactivity: There is chat support.
Special features: The app; chat support; the articles; the success stories; the courses; the map.
Verdict: MeineStadt is a popular job board in Germany and it’s not hard to see why. As a one-stop for everything type of website, it’s a great place to find jobs, housing, cars and even dates. Recruiters can easily find information about posting job offers.
