Jobboard Finder’s opinion
Summary: Karir is an Indonesian generalist job board, which attracts more than 1.32 million visits a month. Unfortunately, there is no “About us” section, but we know it was created in 1999 and that the website belongs to the EMTEK Group, a large media group in Indonesia, thanks to the LinkedIn page. Elang Mahkota Teknologi (Emtek) was founded 2 years before launching the job board. On social media, Karir remains relevant thanks to a strong presence on Instagram (for 31 600 followers), on Facebook (56 901), on Twitter (36 100) and on LinkedIn (8 238 followers, even if there is no link on the homepage).
Design: The search engine (keywords and location) is right up the top of the page and the focus is on the sliding banners for companies. The rest of the homepage offers different ways of starting your job search: popular jobs, latest jobs, followed by featured companies, a list of categories, locations and finally jobs of the year. Reasons to sign up or advert appear as you scroll down as well as blog articles at the end. In the job listing, you can refine your search thanks to the filters (job function, location, salary, industry, education degree, education major) and you can view the offers as a list or grid. Furthermore, you can sort the offers by their urgency, newness or salary. All of the filter information, as well as publication dates and the logos, appear in the listing. Company information appears at the bottom of an open job offer, just above similar positions. Company pages are completely customizable. You feel like you aren’t even on the Karir job board anymore.
The job board objective: A pioneer in its field, Karir makes it easy to find great job opportunities and for companies to promote their brand.
Recruiter observations: For pricing information and to place an advert, recruiters must contact the team. It’s possible to specify the age and gender of the desired candidate in the job offer.
Jobseeker observations: Jobseekers can create an account with LinkedIn or an e-mail address. Jobseekers must provide their marital status, an address (in Indonesia) and a phone number. Once the account has been set up, applications are sent at the click of a button.
The job offers: There are currently 5 643 job offers on the site. Most of them are in finance/banking, followed by pharmaceuticals.
Reactivity: --
Special features: The GoodHR magazine; the blog; job alerts; the English test; the communication style test; the salary checker; the interest test.
Verdict: Karir is easy-to-us and it has great branding. Even if more transparency regarding recruitment options would be appreciated, it’s undeniable that Karir is a handy job board if you’re recruiting in Indonesia.
