Jobboard Finder’s opinion
Summary: Kalaydo is a German classifieds job board, which features ads for jobs, cars, housing, etc. created in 2006. The site mostly focuses on the South side of Germany (along the Rhine River). Over time, the site has built up an impressive database of users and it attracts 2.03 million visits a month, mostly from Germany and bordering countries. Those visits aren’t necessarily for the job section though (visibility for a classifieds website can be misleading). There are many followers on social media: 1 501 on Twitter, 51 followers on YouTube, 208 on Instagram, 42 769 on Facebook and 88 on LinkedIn. There is also a Xing account.
Design: To access the employment section, simply click on “Jobbörse” at the top of the page. The search engine (type of jobs, keywords, location and radius) is in the middle of the homepage over an image of a waitress/barista. The rest of the homepage promotes the Kalaydo services and suggests different job categories. The filters (location, keywords, profession, business, contract, state) are on the left-hand side and job offers and job requests appear in the same list but they have different icons so you can tell them apart quite easily (if they don’t have a logo or photo). The location, publication date, job title, company name and logos are visible in the listing. You can view the list from the newest to the oldest or the other way around. Unfortunately, Google cannot translate the job offers because they are PDF files (customised to reflect the company).
The job board objective: Kalaydo hopes to provide a service to locals by putting people in touch with those offering something they need.
Recruiter observations: The prices are online on the recruiter page. It’s easy to create an account or order a job offer through the site (which usually stays on the site for 30 days). You can view “mini-job” requests for free though (and filter them).
Jobseeker observations: It’s easy to create an account. Most job offers provide application details so you don’t need one.
The job offers: There are currently 11 177 job offers on the site. A number of internships and “mini-jobs” are on the site and most of the other jobs come small and medium-sized companies.
Reactivity: --
Special features: The testimonials; the blog; the YouTube videos; the newsletter; the Kalaydo infographic (for key figures).
Verdict: If you are looking for some extra cash, then Kalaydo is the place to go. Don’t let the fact that Kalaydo is a classifieds job board stop you from looking for more professional jobs too. Most of the offers on the site are not actually in mini-jobs but for important positions in big companies.
