Jobboard Finder’s opinion
Summary: Job.nc is a generalist job board in New Caledonia. According to the website, it belongs to Incognito Sarl, but on Linkedin, Aurore Reynaud is listed as the founder (and as the only employee). The contact information consists of an e-mail address (that doesn’t work) so it’s hard to cross-check the facts. On social media, the team is active for their 1 162 Linkedin followers and 13 133 Facebook followers. The site has been around since 2012. It’s only a small Island, but it has as many as 15 000 unemployed people (many of whom have been unemployed for a long period of time). The unemployment is dropping, so maybe Job.nc has something to do with that, despite its unknown visibility.
Design: The website design is attractive and has an appealing bright yellow colour. The courses page is green and the professional page (for recruiters and the CV database for example) is blue. You can’t actually see the CVs without paying for access, but you can use the interactive map to look for them. On the homepage, you can also use the interactive map, or the search engine (keywords, the location, the province and the type of contract). Of the 10 latest job offers on the homepage, only one was posted today, and four of them are over a week old. The same can be said about the articles: the latest one is from November. There are no other filters in the listing. Some job offers just give useful information and others also have a description. Most of them include contact details and a logo.
The job board objective: Job.nc hopes to make it easier for New Caledonians to find work and candidates.
Recruiter observations: Recruiters and jobseekers create the same type of account. You need to purchase credits to place an advert or use the CV database, but the cost is on the site.
Jobseeker observations: Jobseekers can create a jobseeker or summer job jobseeker account. Since most of the job offers provide contact information, you don’t need an account (and for some others, you can’t apply through the site).
The job offers: There are 54 job offers on the site right now, seven of them are over a year old though!
Reactivity: For some unknown reason, the website didn't work the first time we tested it. We contacted the owner though, and she answered very quickly and fixed everything up for us.
Special features: The list of partner websites; the blog (the articles are sometimes no longer than a paragraph and the latest one was published in November); the courses (which are years old); the interactive map.
Verdict: With only an e-mail address, Job.nc does have limited contact information. That said, we got through to them! You can purchase credits without talking to anyone though, if you are in a hurry. As for jobseekers, there’s no harm in browsing the offers.
