Jobboard Finder’s opinion
Summary: Created in 2011, JobinRwanda is a Rwandan job board and definitely one of the most significant in the area. It is the 25th most visited website in the country, attracting 199 650 visits a month on average. On some websites, you might see that Jimmy Nsenga is the founder, but according to an interview with two of the team members conducted by IGIHE, it isn’t quite as cut and dry. Considering the official languages in Rwanda are French, Kinyarwanda, Swahili and English, it’s a shame to see so few language options. That aside, the website has a user-friendly design and a great initiative. The team strives to keep users updated on the current job offers by sharing them on Twitter (for 4 621 followers), on Facebook (for 44 492) and on LinkedIn (for 7 378).
Design: From the moment you access the job board, you are in the thick of things. The search engine (keywords and the category) appears above a listing of offers, which you can view as only featured, only jobs, only tenders, only consultancy, only public or other. There are no other filters. If you press on an offer, you can see the description, the company rating, the number of views for the job offer and the deadline. There are advertisements along the right-hand side of the screen the entire time but they aren’t distracting. Users can access the company pages by clicking on “Employers” at the top of the page. The company profiles appear in a grid including names and logos. If you click on the company, you can see a description (if there is one), job offers and the rating (and you can also rate the company).
The job board objective: JobinRwanda provides services for recruiters and jobseekers efficiently and quickly in the hopes of improving the employment in Rwanda.
Recruiter observations: Recruiters must include a deadline when creating a job offer. It’s possible to view the offer before posting, and then the team just needs to review it. Free posting is only for public institutions and micro organizations.
Jobseeker observations: Uploading your CV to the site is easy. The job board asks for your education level, your nationality and your language skills. However, you must fill out the same form every time you apply to a job offer (unless there are other instructions or a survey form, which includes questions).
The job offers: On the website, there are currently 146 job opportunities, most of which are “featured jobs”. Some are listed as jobs, others tenders, consultancy or public, so they aren’t exactly job offers.
Reactivity: The team answers very quickly and they are quite helpful!
Special features: The number of views of each job; the newsletter; testimonials; the blog (nothing new since 2018); the article views; company ratings; customized questions for applicants.
Verdict: The information on prices and services is particularly clear and the team answers very quickly. More filters and new blog articles would be nice. Either way, the website is a great asset to Rwanda.
