Jobboard Finder’s opinion
Summary: Created in 1999, Jobboom is a Quebecois job board available in French and English. Since 2013, it belongs to Technologies Interactives Mediagrif, an IT company in Quebec. The job board also recently partnered up with Boomrank to offer employer better access to training. On social media, there are 2 771 followers on YouTube, 7 334 on LinkedIn and 6 503 on Twitter. The link to the Facebook page doesn’t work and there doesn’t seem to be a relevant page. According to SimilarWeb, 621 800 visits are recorded each month. It is purely a coincidence that Jobboom and Jobijoba use the same font and the same pink letters in the middle of their name.
Design: The search engine (keywords and location) appears over a backdrop image of someone in a suit getting ready to run. Just underneath, some brands are featured. The rest of the homepage displays articles, job offers and other services in large colourful boxes, making for an attractive website. In the job listing, there are logos, company names and a small symbol indicating if the offer is only available in French but there are no publication dates. The filters (sector, location, status, required languages) appear on the left and highlighted job offers are slightly larger (and boxed in grey) in the listing. If you open a job offer, you’ll see useful information (like the hours and the pay) above the description. As for the company pages, they consist of a brief description, a logo and a list of job offers.
The job board objective: Jobboom focuses on the Quebecois market in Canada to ensure it gets the attention it deserves and needs.
Recruiter observations: It’s easy to create an account but you must contact the team for any job posting.
Jobseeker observations: It’s easy for jobseekers to create an account. You must provide your e-mail address and name even if you are redirected to a career page.
The job offers: There are 9 101 job offers on the site. Most of them are sales, construction and finance.
Reactivity: --
Special features: The YouTube videos; the testimonials; the blog (no dates); the toolbox for job searching (including a link to the Emploi-Quebec, information about immigration and government programs); the articles views; the career quiz; the job sheets (which include links to similar professions); the courses.
Verdict: Jobboom is a leading job board in Quebec. Since Canada is a culturally diverse country, it is nice to see a site, which adapts to a specific part of the country. The linguistic differences between Quebec and the rest of Canada are taken into consideration here, as well as the sort after requirements from recruiters.
