Summary: Founded in 1993 by Bryan Bassett, Health eCareers Network belongs to Everyday Health, an online health journal, which in turn belongs to Ziff Davis. Oddly enough, Sylvie Gilot, a French MD, is listed as an owner of the site on LinkedIn. This may be because her company (health experts) merged with Health eCareers. Health eCareers Network is a niche job board for healthcare professionals, which also offers access to a community of partners. The site is quite popular: it attracts 290 980 visits a month (mostly from the US). On social media, there are 4 157 followers on Twitter, 163 643 on Facebook, 3 834 on LinkedIn and 651 on Instagram.
Design: On the homepage, you can either select a field, which corresponds to your area of expertise, or click on “job search” to access the job listing. If you go through the search engine on the homepage, you will be asked to include a location and specialty once you’ve picked your profession. In the listing, there are no publication dates but large logos appear on the right-hand side if the recruiter has provided one. As for the filters, you can only select a profession or location. However, there are actually hidden filters: when you click on the profession, subcategories appear as well as different options for the employment type, the experience, job attribute, employer and benefits. Job offers present clear information about the job offer in one panel and about the company in another. There is a list of employers in alphabetical order (no logos or job offers are visible in the list).
The job board objective: Health eCareers Network is also about the network in the healthcare industry. It’s about more than just active jobseekers: a network means that passive candidates can be targeted too.
Recruiter observations: Recruiters can purchase a job offer through the site. Additional services (like banners and resume searches) are also available through the employer page.
Jobseeker observations: To apply to job offers, you need an account. Luckily, it’s easy to create an account and to upload a CV for applications.
The job offers: There are 11 286 job offers, which is about 350 less than last year. Most of them are for physicians/ surgeons.

Special features: Job alerts; the TRUSTe stamp; photos and videos in the “About us” section; the salary calculator; the downloadable salary; the news and advice; chat support; the key figures; job fairs.
Verdict: Health eCareer Network is full of nifty surprises. It might be better to display the filters because it might deter people who think there aren’t any. That’ said, the services for recruiters are varied and the site does a good job when it comes to transparency.
