Jobboard Finder’s opinion
Summary: GastroCareer is a specialist job board available in a number of countries. GastroCareer is part of a bigger group called HotelCareerGroup, which has other job boards focused on different industries, all relating at least slightly to the hotel industry. It is mostly for luxury hotels. The job sites look similar only they have different dominant colours. This one is green. According to EasyCounter, about 15 540 visitors go to the website each month. The social media is a bit hard to follow and to find though: there is an international Facebook page with 6 456 followers but no updates since last year, another Facebook page for HotelCareerGroup with 30 399 followers and finally, a HotelCareerGroup LinkedIn with 359 followers.
Design: The sole focus of the homepage is the job search, even though the job board also has a blog and a press section. The search engine (keywords, location and the radius) appears above different search suggestions, companies of the week and featured jobs. In the job listing, the filters (language, the professional group, the sector, the location, the rank, the type of hours and the publication date) help refine the search (and indicate the number of offers per category). There are no logos but you can see the publication dates. You can also see the number of stars the hotel has. Once opened, the job offers are broken down into clear sections, including a contact section. Company pages are mostly a list of job offers, unless employees have rated and reviewed the place.
The job board objective: GastroCareer is present in a select number of countries to ensure hotels can reach out to as many relevant candidates as possible.
Recruiter observations: Recruiters can find the list of prices by clicking on the “why us” section. However, to actually order anything, they must contact the team.
Jobseeker observations: It’s easy to create an account.
The job offers: There are 21 596 job offers on the website, most of which are also on the partner websites . The oldest offers are from the end of last year. Unsurprisingly, most of the job offers are for hotel jobs, and most require German (followed by French).
Reactivity: The team answers very quickly but they prefer to talk over the phone.
Special features: The app; the job alerts; the blog (the same as the HotelCareer site); the press section (nothing new this year); the courses; the companies of the week; company reviews and star ratings (for different aspects of the company); the webinars; the seminars; the job fairs.
Verdict: GastroCareer is exactly the same as HotelCareer; it even has the same job offers. If you recruit through HotelCareerGroup, it doesn’t really matter which one you chose because you will have your offers on all three sites. So if your hotel or restaurant is in Poland, Germany, France or Austria, HotelCareerGroup are definitely worth contacting for more information.
