Jobboard Finder’s opinion
Summary: GAAPweb is a specialist job board for finance and accountancy professionals in the UK. Co-founded by Mark Wainwright, it was later sold to Trinity Mirror, a national and regional newspaper group, in 2005. The mother company of GAAPweb is Financial Jobs Online. It has been around for over 20 years. It attracts 94 320 visitors a month and keeps its social media updated for the followers (572 on LinkedIn, 2 939 on Twitter and 1 473 on Facebook).
Design: As a Madgex job board, the design is very user-friendly. The search engine (keywords, location and radius) is featured at the eyesight level on the homepage. Below, there are three panels (job title, location and category) to choose a category and start your job search. Next to the panels, we have the urgently required jobs. The featured companies really are hiring, which is always good news. In the job listing, the filters (job title, location, category, experience, hours, salary band, contract type and recruiter type) appear on the left-hand side (and include the number of job offers for each category). An open job offer has a standard layout, with useful information on the left-hand (which includes expiry dates). There is also a company listing, which displays the logo and number of current job offers, but the pages are just lists of offers.
The job board objective: GAAPweb (which originally stood for “Generally Accepted Accountancy Principles”) focuses on a specific profile to ensure it can offer expert advice and insight.
Recruiter observations: Prices are online and recruiters can order through the site almost effortlessly. If you would like something catered to your recruitment needs or if you would like to browse the CV database (of 450 000 CVs), you must contact the team.
Jobseeker observations: It’s easy to create an account and you can request a CV review.
The job offers: There are currently 1 431 job offers online. The most popular job titles are accountant, financial controller and management accountant.
Reactivity: When the team is online, there is a chat window. The team answers very quickly.
Special features: The app; the Twitter feeds; the newsletter; the career blog (with different sections); CV reviews.
Verdict: The GAAPweb team is both helpful and available to help recruiters promote their adverts. The user-friendly design makes this site a great choice for anyone looking for work in the financial and accountancy domain.
