Jobboard Finder’s opinion
Summary: Flight Jobs, the jobs section to FlightGlobal, is a specialist job board focused on aviation created in 2008. The group belongs to Reed Business Information (rbi), a company that provides data to businesses, and runs other sites in a variety of industries. The rbi group in turn belongs to the Relx Group, which was known as Reed Elsevier until 2015. In 2011, rbi purchases Ascend (an aviation data analytics company) to complete FlightGlobal. Every month, the site attracts about 79 380 views, with many ups and downs recently. The views come from all over the world. That’s why they are present on many different types of social media for their 367 followers on Linkedin, 2 141 on Twitter, 2 729 on Facebook and 8 213 on Youtube. The group also has a WeChat account for their Asian followers.
Design: To access the jobs on FlightGlobal, there are a couple of “job” sections to press on. Once in the job board, the focus is on the job search. Users can access the listing thanks to the search engine (keywords, a location and the radius) or with the three different panels for the categories: aviation and airlines, aerospace engineering and training courses. The rest of the homepage is full of featured employers (who are really hiring), featured jobs (including a job of the week) and articles from the blog. Once in the listing, the filters are the location, the sector, the salary band, the contract type, the hours, the recruiter type and there are two boxes you can tick (nationwide and homeworking). As a job board designed by Madgex, there are different browsing and searching options, which just affects the location. The information is clear and offers display salary information and logos in the listing (as well as a countdown for offers that are expiring soon). When you open an offer, similar offers appear on the right-hand side and the useful information comes up on the left-hand side. Finally, there is a recruiter listing (in alphabetical order) and the jobs for each are indicated in the listing. A small search engine is provided to sort the pages. The pages can be customized (including videos and photos) or standard (a description and job offers).
The job board objective: Flight Jobs aims to share jobs in aviation from all over the world with jobseekers from all over the world. Recruiters can target aviation professionals everywhere.
Recruiter observations: We couldn’t access the recruiter account possibly because the validation e-mails weren’t received. Luckily, the team responds very fast so if you have any issues, you can contact them directly. You must provide a salary band but it is not visible to jobseekers.
Jobseeker observations: Even if you don’t have an account, you can apply to job offers by filling out the short form with your information, a CV and an e-mail (cover letters).
The job offers: There are 593 job offers on the site. Most of the offers are for flight crew.
Reactivity: The team answers very quickly! They are quite helpful and efficient.
Special features: Job alerts; the job of the week; the handy next/previous buttons; following companies (by getting job alerts when they post new offers); the many Youtube videos; the media centre; the events (past and upcoming ones).
Verdict: Flight Jobs has interesting articles on aviation and job offers from all over the world. The information on different airlines helps decide where to work and recruiters can easily get in touch with the team to advertise.
