Jobboard Finder’s opinion
Summary: Founded in 2008, EspressoJobs focuses on marketing, communication, web and video gaming jobs in Quebec. As the leading job board in tech jobs in Quebec, EspressoJobs also knows a lot about that specific labour market. The site is available in English and French and it publishes regularly on the blog. On social media, there are 4 390 followers on LinkedIn, 7 589 on Twitter and 35 213 on Facebook. According to SimilarWeb, 54 170 visits are recorded every month (which is a drop of about 20 000 visits compared to last year), with only 65% of them coming from Canada.
Design: The search engine (keywords, location) is the feature of the homepage and there is also a measuring line for the radius. Additional filters include the type of position, level of experience and publication date. If you know which sector you want (communication and marketing, web, IT, AI, games or animation), you can select the panel to refine the search through the engine. As you scroll down, featured jobs fill up the page as well as other starred jobs on the right-hand side. Once in the listing, publication date and logos are visible. Job offers have a standard layout once opened, with only a small logo at the top for branding. If you want to browse the company pages (by name or location), simply click on “company directory” in the menu).
The job board objective: EspressoJobs tackles the job search in a light-hearted way, and with a coffee. It’s just a break in your career, the time it takes to get an espresso and recharge.
Recruiter observations: To create an account, all you need are the basics (username, e-mail address, etc.), but you are also expected to fill out the social media links and the description fields. The prices vary depending on whether you want to advertise to Quebec or all of Canada. The site also offers recruitment services.
Jobseeker observations: Jobseekers can create an account with an e-mail address or a LinkedIn account.
The job offers: there are currently 445 jobs online.
Reactivity: You can send an e-mail to the main address or to a specific member of the team.
Special features: The blog (which includes a search engine for keywords); the newsletter; the timeline; the satisfaction guarantee; the clever names for the advertising packages; the list of top tech employers.
Verdict: We recommend using EspressoJobs if you’re in Quebec, looking for a job in another of the sectors above the search engine (see Design section). Even recruiters will have an easy time using the site so you really can’t go wrong.
