Jobboard Finder’s opinion
Summary: Created in 2009, Carriere Industrie belongs to a much bigger group of job boards under the direction of Direct Emploi (which used to be Direct Performance). The company has existed since 1994, and expanded to include other sites later. Carriere Industrie is a specialist job board for those in industrial work. The social media is actually the Direct Emploi pages: 302 followers on Viadeo, 367 on Linkedin, 7 829 on Facebook (no updates since October) and 626 on Twitter (no updates since 2016). Furthermore, Similarweb couldn’t give us the visibility.
Design: The backdrop image is of two people in protective gear creating sparks by cutting something metallic and the dominant colour is red. The rest of it highlights the different services through Carriere Industrie: the search engine (type of contract, location and keywords), the hiring companies (most of which are hiring but the arrows on either side of them don’t work), the featured job offers and the different lists. You can look up job offers by region, department or city and the same goes for the company pages (by region, by activity and in alphabetical order). Even job sheets and a blog are available (supposedly). When you dig a bit deeper though, you realise the blog doesn’t work, the articles on the homepage are over a year old and the sheets lead nowhere. Even the map of the site is surprisingly empty. If you decide to look up job offers anyway, the listing shows all the useful information (including logos) but there’s about the extent of the branding. Similar job offers appear under an open job offer. Finally, to narrow down the search, you can use the advanced search filters (the industry, type of education, experience, salary).
The job board objective: If you work in the industrial field, this website aims to make it easier for French jobseekers to find work and to make recruiting in France simpler too.
Recruiter observations: Recruiters create an account through Direct Emploi. Please check out the Direct Emploi page for more info.
Jobseeker observations: You need to fill out your profile to create an account, which can be tedious. Furthermore, you must have a local phone number and specify your level of education. When you sign up to one website, you also sign up to the partner websites. Some of the job offers redirect you to another page (even another job board). For the others, you need an account, a CV and an optional cover letter.
The job offers: There are 23 718 job offers on Carriere Industrie right now.
Reactivity: To find a phone number, you need to go through the recruiter page. No response yet.
Special features: The blog (which does not work); the job alerts; the job sheets (which don’t work); the CV visibility options; the tags (for the offers in the job listing).
Verdict: This particular website is clearly addressed to French users. The diploma names won’t mean much to a foreigner. Without wanting to be too harsh, the unknown visibility, the pages that don’t work and others that don’t load, make Carriere Industrie a bit of a waste of time. That doesn’t mean there aren’t some interesting offers out there, but the website needs to be fixed for anyone to access them properly. This portal does work better than some of the others.
