Jobboard Finder’s opinion
Summary: Created in 2006, Career Structure is a subsidiary of TotalJobs and a specialist job board for construction professionals in the UK. In 2008, it extended its services and offers to the international market. It attracts 362 460 views a month, half of which come from the UK. The other top countries are Saudi Arabia, the UAE, India and Quatar. On social media, there are 1 412 followers on Twitter (nothing new since 2015), 1 620 on LinkedIn (which is its most successful social media) and 146 on YouTube.
Design: The Search engine (keywords, location and the radius) appears in the middle of the page over a backdrop image of the sky and glass buildings. Just under the search engine, you can choose different categories, which are presented in different panels: international jobs, jobs by sector, jobs by location, jobs by company, popular searches and oil & gas jobs (with the numbers for each in brackets). Once you’ve started using the website, recommended jobs also appear on the homepage. The rest of it highlights what makes the job board handy. Once in the job listing, the filters are the location, the radius, the salary (annual, daily or hourly), date posted, recruiter type, the type of contract, related jobs and popular employers. Each job offer features the job title, with the location, salary, contract type, company name and publication date underneath. Under each job offer in the list, there is a suggestion, like “more jobs in construction in Asia”. Premium job offers have good branding, which can include photos and sliding banners. The standard offers only include a description, a logo and useful information.
The job board objective: Career Structure offers jobs in engineering, gas, oil and anything to do with structure. With all the relevant jobs in one place, it’s easier to find what you need.
Recruiter observations: The prices are on the website and there is clear information about the different services. It’s easy to create an account but you pay before you view your advert if you purchase it online.
Jobseeker observations: To create an account, you must fill out a form. This includes whether you are eligible to work in the EU, eligible to work in the UK, your education level and your current salary and job title. Once you have an account, you can apply to job offers.
The job offers: There are 56 445 job offers on the website at the moment.
Reactivity: --
Special features: The handful of YouTube videos; the app; job alerts; explanations on how to use the different features in the CV database; the local guides; job profiles; interesting articles (but no dates); the list of partner websites (in the "About us" section).
Verdict: Career Structure is part of a big group so you know that your job offers will get the exposure they need. Furthermore, the outreach is rather varied and the job board interface is appealing. You won’t have the best company branding, but you can definitely feature the important information like salary and location.
