Jobboard Finder’s opinion
Summary: In 1999, two recruiters created the CareersinFood specialist job board because they had noticed that the industry was missing a service for those looking for jobs in Food and Beverages. Since then, the job site has remained popular, attracting 5 087 followers on Facebook, 1 663 on Twitter and another 10 039 on LinkedIn. The visibility is about 46 800 visitors a month, most of which hang around for a while on the site.
Design: The colour scheme is mostly orange, green and grey. The layout is slightly outdated; it only covers half the screen. On the homepage, the search engine (category, location) is at the top of the page, with the rest of the page filled up by recent posts, featured companies and blog articles. In the job listing, the additional filters are the employer type and the last update. Each offer displays a logo, the publication date and a “similar jobs” button. Some of the less expensive job offers don’t have logos but the information is still clear. The degree and salary (when disclosed) appear above the job description. Some of the featured companies are not hiring but they all have some type of company page, be it standard or customised. Some of them have large images, videos and a special layout; others simply provide a logo and description of the company.
The job board objective: CareersinFood hopes to fill a void in the job board industry by providing professionals in the food and beverage industry with job offers and candidates.
Recruiter observations: To view the prices, you must first create an account (which is easy to do, but you need an American address).
Jobseeker observations: When creating an account, jobseekers must fill in a detailed online CV. You cannot apply to jobs until you’ve filled out your account. However, you can browse them without logging in and apply through LinkedIn or the company website.
The job offers: There are 15 353 job offers on the site. Most are in the US, 331 are in Canada and another 422 job offers are international. Most are in manufacturing and supply chain.

Special features: Company following; the newsletter; the interactive map (for the location); the internships; the scholarships; the events (go to volunteering for the list); university partners; the job fair calendar; the resume and cover letter tips (including templates); the resources, which include the blog and other relevant links (like agencies specialised in food marketing and government websites).
Verdict: Don’t judge a book by its cover. CareersinFood has a lot to offer in the way of events, jobs and candidates. Definitely a good choice for anyone hiring in the food and beverage industry.
