Jobboard Finder’s opinion
Summary: CareerBuilder was founded by Robert J. McGovern in 1995 as NetStart Inc. It sold software to companies so that they could list job offers. Now, it is a well-known job board present in many different countries. In India, it attracts a steady 30 590 visits per month, which is far below some of the national job sites. On social media, the site has 2 150 followers on LinkedIn, 346 098 on Facebook and 5 422 on Twitter (nothing new since last year). The familiar logo and design create brand unity across borders, attracting both jobseekers and recruiters.
Design: The search engine (keywords and location) appears over a grey backdrop (as if an image is missing). The featured companies lead to completely different pages (and they aren’t necessarily hiring). Furthermore, the “About Us” page and HR blog don’t exist. Once in the job listing, the offers can be sorted by relevance or date. There are logos, publication dates and the type of hours visible before even opening the offers. You can also refine the search with filters (date posted, job type, category, state, city). Job offers can be published in different languages (like mandarin).
The job board objective: Thanks to a global presence, CareerBuilder helps recruiters find candidates all over the world.
Recruiter observations: If you already have an account on a CareerBuilder website, you cannot create a new one. Otherwise, it’s easy to create an account.
Jobseeker observations: It’s easy to create an account. If you are redirected, the site asks for your e-mail address.
The job offers: There are currently 115 jobs online. The categories with the most job offers are Restaurant jobs, Sales jobs and Management jobs.
Reactivity: The team answers quickly and the response is detailed, but impersonal.
Special features: The HR blog (which is unavailable); the Career Muse (nothing new since 2017); job alerts.
Verdict: Even if CareerBuilder is a well-known and successful job board, it isn’t quite as successful or as updated in India. The local competition is much stronger than it is in other locations.
