Jobboard Finder’s opinion
Summary: Founded by Bryan Petereit in 2008, Apply Direct helps jobseekers get in touch with employers directly, as the name suggests. Basically, Apply Direct retrieves job offers from employer sites. It has 6 805 followers on Facebook, 403 on Twitter (nothing new since 2016) and 526 on LinkedIn. The visibility has been dropping since the beginning of the year, but it remains relatively high at 257 480 visits a month.
Design: The search engine (job type, sub type, keyword, state, city, type of hours) looks more like one for a booking website (like a flight or hotel booking service) rather than a job board search engine. The design is attractive and you can see a few featured employers (as well as the number of job offers) from the homepage. At the bottom, the best Aussie employer logos are cut off though. In the listing, there are no additional filters but you can sort the offers by default, title, company or date. If you open an offer, related jobs will appear at the end (or they can also appear next to the listing). The job offers have logos, publication dates and sharing options. Most are highlighted in blue.
The job board objective: ApplyDirect wants to ensure jobseekers see real job offers for real jobs. To do this, they have gone straight to the source to find the adverts.
Recruiter observations: To learn more about how the Apply Direct job board works for recruiters, you must contact the team.
Jobseeker observations: It’s easy to create an account but you do need to include your state (and desired job, which is optional). You are also asked if you have completed a fit2work check-up.
The job offers: There are 7 971 job offers online. Most of the jobs are for casual work.
Reactivity: --
Special features: The feedback options; the resume review; the partners; the blog (categories but no publication dates); job alerts.
Verdict: The idea behind Apply Direct is good. It allows jobseekers to contact companies directly, instead of going through recruiters. As the times change, more and more job boards will be introducing similar polices, but for now, it’s a good gimmick. Check out the offers and the resources if you’re looking for work.
